PORTLAND, Maine –
One of Maine’s finest public servants announced today his strong support for Charlie Summers for Congress. Roger Putnam has accepted the role of Honorary Campaign Chairman of the campaign, and looks forward to utilizing his experience and strong tradition as a public and private leader to ensure that Charlie Summers is the next Congressman from Maine’s 1st Congressional District.
“I can think of no one better qualified and better prepared to serve Maine’s 1st District in Washington than Charlie Summers” said Putnam. “Charlie has shown repeatedly his dedication to public service and to the State of Maine, serving as New England Regional Administrator of the SBA, a U.S. Navy Officer in Iraq, and as a member of the Maine State Senate. He has a proven record of not only commitment, but of real results and leadership. I am honored to serve his campaign, and assist in his election to Congress.”
Putnam is presently Special Counsel to the law firm Verrill Dana in Portland, ME. He served as an Assistant Attorney General of the State of Maine from 1951 to 1958. He is the former President of the Maine Equal Justice Project and former member of the Board of Directors.

Snowe (R-Maine), and as a 2-term member of the Maine State Senate representing Saco, Scarborough and Old Orchard Beach.
