than $60,000 through September 30th with

PORTLAND, Maine –
Charlie Summers bid for
Congress has attracted strong support over the past
quarter, bringing in more than $60,000 from
supporters across Maine.
“While
Charlie serves the nation in Iraq, Maine people are
stepping forward with their personal contributions –
large and small – to help fuel his campaign for
Congress,” said Ruth Summers, who is representing
Charlie on the campaign trail. Charlie Summers, a
Navy Reserve Lieutenant Commander, is currently
serving on active duty in Baghdad, Iraq.
The
Summers for Congress campaign reports contributions
of over $60,000 during the reporting from hundreds
of donors across Maine and the nation. Summers
announced he would be a candidate for the First
Congressional District in July, just before
reporting for his Navy duty.
“This is
an outstanding show of support in response to
Charlie’s service and candidacy,” said Ruth
Summers. “Charlie and I are gratified by the
broad-based support we’re receiving from folks
throughout Maine who recognize we need strong
leadership for Maine in Washington.”
Ruth
Summers said the campaign has also built a deep
grass-roots network of hundreds of supporters, with
county and town chairman throughout the First
Congressional District.
